Is it Possible?
September 2000
Is it possible for an advanced civilization to exist side by side with
primitive ones? It is often stated that it is not possible for there to
be such a situation, it is what many non-believers cite when they
ridicule the concept of Atlantis. They will often say, how can such an
advanced civilization have existed when the rest of the world was in a
more primitive state. Or man was not advanced enough to account for the
existence of such a civilization.

Somehow that statement made by those who are supposed to be in the know
(our scientists of course) is usually sufficient to end a discussion on
this topic. I have actually been caught up in this very thinking from
time to time as I could not imagine how and why a single people could
accomplish great technological feats and not have the rest of the world
follow suit.

I recently realized that in this case the naysayers are making 2 + 2 =
6. Look around at the current state of affairs in our own modern times.
We currently live in a world where we enjoy some of the greatest
achievements in technology ever recorded. This was done in just a few
short decades. The advancements are exponential, each one building upon
the previous enabling tremendous leaps. Yet while all this is going on
here in the USA and in a precious few other countries, the majority of
the world is mired in third-world-ism. The former Soviet Union is
actually going backwards in its’ progress unable to finance the pace of
progress or to even feed it’s people.

We reach for the stars while many reach for basic survival. My
conclusion is therefore very simple, a single people properly motivated
and financed can and will be able to achieve the impossible, travel to
the stars, practice medicine, indulge in the sciences and arts and do it
side by side with the most primitive of people. This could have occurred
at any point in the history of our planet or any other planet capable of
sustaining life (and that life doesn't need to be in the fashion that we
know). This could have occurred and left absolutely no trace behind of
it ever happening.

There is good solid evidence of there having been a flood in Earths’
distant past that at the least covered most of the known ancient world
if not having been world-wide. The proof is evident today when
archeologists can dig below 20 or 30 feet of mud and discover ancients
foundations buried by a massive flood. The idea that the Earth was
continuously re-worked by various cataclysms is now well accepted. The
belief that there is no possibility of a previous intelligent human
population is on its’ face patently ridiculous to me.

We have very little in the way of fossil records for the dinosaurs, only
rare pieces of the very largest of creatures have survived. Why would we
expect to find smaller creatures, say the size of man, in the fossil
record when we cannot find the smaller dinosaurs we know must have
existed. We utilize today timelines for fossil records that were
established in the 1850s, what was really known then? And just how able
were we to evaluate the record at that time?

I am continually amazed at the responses from those that are supposed to
know. I have reached a conclusion that for the most part many of our
scientists are only guessing and they stand steadfast in their
statements of mis-information for one simple reason, they are afraid of
being proven wrong.

I love the Discovery channel and watch it all the time, re-runs never
deter me as I could watch the same episode on tunnel digging or
engineering disasters over and over again. Scientists make errors the
same as builders or engineers make errors, the same as pro ball players
make fielding errors. We are after all human, I just think most of the
Scientific community has forgotten their human-ness.

Should we be searching here on Earth for cities predating the Sumerians?
Maybe not, but we should not be excluding the possibility that they
could exist. After all we do have samples of what was possible in full
view on MARS!
